February 2016
Dear Parent/Carer
Your Child may benefit from additional funding from central government known as Pupil Premium Grant.
The government has introduced the Pupil Premium to help children from low income families reach their full potential and to achieve higher academic grades at school, this is very important as the school budget is affected by the number of children entitled to Free School Meals. This additional funding can provide extra support in the classroom and opportunities within school.
The level of funding that the school will receive for 2015/2016 is £1320 for each child that is registered as meeting the statutory free school meal criteria. In order to determine if your child qualifies and to allow us to claim the funding it is important that all parents and carers who feel they may meet the criteria below, complete the slip below and return as indicated.
- Income Support (IS)
- Job Seekers’ Allowance (Income-Based) and equal based Job Seekers Allowance.
- Income Related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA-IR) and equal based Employment and Support Allowance.
- Child Tax Credit (CTC) with an Annual income of less than £16,190.
- Guarantee Element of Pension Credit (GPC)
- Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 (IAA) Support
- Universal Credit
Please note that anyone claiming Working Tax Credit, Contribution-Based Job Seeker’s Allowance and/or Contribution-Based Employment and Support Allowance is NOT eligible for free school meals, regardless of what other benefits/credits are being claimed. However, you will be temporarily eligible to claim free school meals if you receive a Working Tax Credit run-on, which is the payment someone may receive for a further four weeks after they stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit.
If you would like Newquay Junior Academy to check if your child will be eligible for Free School Meals, please complete the reply slip below with the relevant information and return it to the Academy Office by Friday 4th March.
Thank you for your continued support.
Yours sincerely
Mr A Reep
Associate Headteacher
