To Parents/Carers

This summer term has been absolutely fantastic. My praise and thanks to staff and pupils for their commitment and efforts in working so hard to enjoy and help make our events and activities such a success. Many thanks to everyone who supported our sports days, the Year 6 Romeo and Juliet production, Y5 Tudor day, Cornwall games and finally this week with our involvement with Surfers Against Sewage Oceans Plastics Day and meeting Prince Charles and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.

On behalf of all staff, may I take this opportunity to wish all our pupils and their families a restful and enjoyable summer break.  Thank you for all your help and support throughout the year in everything we do. It is very much appreciated and does make a huge contribution to the developments within the academy.
Mr A Reep, Associate Headteacher

Year 6 Production – Romeo & Juliet

The Year 6 production of Romeo & Juliet was a tremendous success. The childrens’ performances were exceptional, on stage and behind the scenes, with many weeks of hard work and preparation resulting in an outstanding finale to the childrens’ time here at Newquay Junior Academy.

NJA Carnival 2015 and the Newquay Blockheads!

Children from NJA had great fun taking part in Newquay Carnival this year! Our entry was based on Ian Dury’s classic 1979 song “Reasons to be Cheerful”. Pupils changed this to ‘Reasons to be Cheerful in Newquay!’ Banners were made and families joined in with their own items that made them happy – ranging from beach flags to the family dog!

It was also lovely to see so many pupils from Newquay Junior Academy representing their many out of academy clubs and activities.

A fantastic evening was had by those who took part and those who came to support both Newquay Junior Academy and the community. We would like to thank Newquay Lions for organising the event.

Fantastic Sports Achievements

Newquay Junior won the Newquay Surf 7’s Tournament at Lusty Glaze Beach. Our excellent tag rugby players were runners up in the Devon and Cornwall Finals and winners of the ‘Most Sporting Team’ award.

Last month our outstanding swimmers took part in the Primary Schools National Swimming Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. Both the boys and girls teams were outstanding in their respective races. Congratulations to all the children who participated and thank you to parents for their support.

The Cornwall School Games took place in St Austell at the end of June. Many of our pupils represented Newquay Junior with all teams and individuals performing exceptionally. Well done.

Year 4 – Summer Term Summary

We enjoyed an excellent turnout for the Year 4 Indian Presentation last month. Staff were extremely proud of the children’s efforts as well as the outstanding work they produced.

The Year 4 Teachers would like to say a big well done to pupils for their effort with reading this term and to parents for consistently listening and helping

them. Both 4JF and 4SN have won the Reading Stars Trophy this term, so an extra special thank you to all mums, dads, carers, nannas, grandads, brothers and sisters!

Successful Sports Days 2015

Thanks to the excellent recent spate of good weather, all Sports Days have taken place this month and we would like to thank you for coming to support your children taking part in their events. An impressive £500 was raised by the PTA.

Congratulations!

A big well done to Aimee Nile, Jaida Lambert,

Stella Upton, Polly Jones and Maria Upton for raising an amazing £27.00 for Cancer Research with their own Cake Sale on 17th July.

NJA Summer Fayre 2015

The Newquay Junior Academy Summer Fayre raised a phenomenal £1400 this year! Thank you to all those who attended and gave their support, also to the children and staff for their interesting array of stalls and activities! Along with the exceptional weather this can go on record as one of the most successful Summer Fayres Newquay Junior has seen in a while!
