Message from Mrs Sue Martin, Executive Headteacher
I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting staff and pupils at NJA – they have been so welcoming that I already feel like we are part of the same family. I look forward to meeting you soon.
Dear all
Thank you for the many well wishes and kind words of support since taking up my new role. As ever, this half term has been a busy and successful one for staff and pupils. I’m looking forward to leading our amazing staff to help make sure Newquay Junior continues to go from strength to strength. I hope to see many of you over the coming weeks as we enjoy the events and activities planned over the final summer half term.
Best wishes
Andrew Reep
Associate Headteacher
Goodluck to our Year 5 and 6 Football Team who are set to take part in the Rosewarne Cup East Finals this Friday 23 May
at St Mewan.
Reminder – STAFF TRAINING DAY on Friday 27th June – Academy closed to pupils.
Out and About
Our children have enjoyed a variety of activities and visits recently to enhance their education. Some of these include a visit to Fifteen Restaurant at Watergate Bay by kind invitation, an educational walk across the Barrowfields. Children participated in tennis and swimming galas as well as surfing sessions at Tolcarne and Crantock.
Year 6 SATs
Well done to all our Year 6’s who took their SATs last week. They all worked extremely hard and whatever they achieve they can be proud knowing that they did their very best.
A big thank you to parents also – attendance for Year 6 throughout this week was outstanding!
We are also grateful to the canteen staff for providing our Year 6’s with fruit and bottled water each morning to help keep their concentration levels high during this busy time.
ParentPay
Thank you for keeping your dinner money accounts in credit. We would like to assure you that your child will always be provided with a lunch, however, tuck may be refused if your account is in debit. We hope this action will help parents to avoid accumulating a debt on their account. Thank you for your continued support.
Race For Life – On Sunday 18th May many of our staff took part in the Race for Life at Falmouth in memory of Anne Lowry. Total raised so far is over £1000 with many more donations still to come in!
Visitors to the Academy
Once again we were pleased to welcome the RNLI to give beach safety talks to all our children.
The Royal British Legion presented a certificate to Newquay Junior Academy for raising £101.02 for their Poppy Appeal. The Newquay branch raised a total of £22,121.74 this year.

Could we ask that all children no longer having brass lessons with Mrs Carter on Academy Afternoon please return their instruments. Thank you.
Park and Stride
As parking regulations are once again in force, we are pleased to offer parking permits for parents to use the Heron Tennis Centre car park. We hope parents will take advantage of this concession as Cornwall Council support us by issuing these permits.
Please collect your permit from the Academy Office. Crossing patrol is also in place for the safety of your children.
