Newquay Academy Wins Healthy Schools Accolade

Newquay Junior Academy has been awarded  Scolly Award at a recent awards ceremony. Led by Mrs Dewsnap the Healthy School coordinator,  she has consistently achieved Healthy Schools status for the school over a number of years, ensuring an ethos of Health and wellbeing is well and truly embedded. Mrs Dewsnap submitted a Healthy School Plus case study this year showed how a good school council can make a real difference to both the school and its community.

The academy’s school council have worked in an advisory capacity to the town library in order to improve uptake of the facilities.  Within the school environment their positive impact has included fundraising for water fountains, positively altering the dining room and creating an environment whereby pupils really want to be on the school council and make a difference to their school.

Congratulations all.
