Year 3 have started looking at our latest topic of plastic pollution. To explore the properties of plastic the children have been designing and making hats made of plastic waste. They were very creative and learned new ways of joining, tying and plaiting materials. The activity really highlighted the hardwearing property of plastic that ends up being so problematic when it is thrown away. The children became more aware of the plastic problem and have already started formulating ways that they can reduce and recycle plastics.
They really enjoyed making these hats, though many turned out to be very different to their original designs!
