Rockpool Spotters

Rockpool Spotters

After a couple of false starts due to the weather, 6DH finally made it down to the beach at the end of last month for some fun outdoor learning. We learned about the different plants and animals that can be found on the coast and in rockpools, and used our ‘rockpool spotters’ to help us identify the different species. We found loads of beach life, including crabs, blennies, gobies, limpets, sea thrift and bladderwrack.

This was followed up by making sand sculptures of stacks, caves and arches and the children also created other sculptures including seals, starfish, an octopus and even a mermaid! A quick game of rounders helped work up an appetite for lunch back at school.
