Download: Staffing & Changes for NJA Sep 2016
Dear Parents and Carers
As we approach the summer break, staff and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all that you do to support the Academy and in championing your child’s learning. This summer term has yet again been packed with so many exciting and successful events and activities for our pupils to enjoy and share with you. We even had some good summer weather to accompany many of these!
As we’ve said throughout this year, the changes and increased expectations of Primary education have now come in to full effect. However, what has pleased and delighted staff and I most is the children’s positive attitude and behaviour towards their learning and personal development, and in them continuing to engage in the full range of wider opportunities that the Academy provides. A huge well done to each and every one of them.
This is also an opportunity for me to give you an update on staffing and to let you know of changes to the daily drop off/pick up routines.
Staffing September 2016 Following recent successful appointments Mrs Anne Howard will take over as Deputy Headteacher and Mrs Trevorrow will be the new Head of Year 6. Mr Doble will be returning back to a full time teaching post in Year 6 and we are very grateful for all his support and hard work during his time as Associate Deputy Headteacher. We say goodbye and best wishes to a number of staff leaving this year to pursue new opportunities: Mr Baines, Miss Davy, Mrs McLoughlin and Mr Wills, all of whom have served and supported the Academy so well over their many years of dedicated service. In September we welcome some new members to our teaching team: Mrs Cairns and Mrs Payne to Year 3 and Mr Clarke to Year 5.
Parent drop off / pick up before and after school
In response to parent and staff feedback we will be making changes to the morning and afternoon access and arrival routines at the Academy from this September. From 8.30am onwards parents/carers are encouraged to come onto site (via the current front and back gates which will be fully supervised) with their child. During this time you may also take the opportunity to help your child with the changing of reading books in the Library or visit the breakfast club in the Academy canteen.
From 8.40am to 8.50am parents/carers are also welcome and encouraged to accompany their child to class and see them get settled and organised for the start of day. Once the 8.50am class registration bell sounds we would kindly ask that those parents/carers still on site then leave via the gates as lessons will then promptly begin.
In addition to the changes in the morning, we would also like to welcome parents onto site to collect their child at the end of the each day. We plan to open the gates at 2.50pm in order to provide you with the opportunity to come on site and collect your child from within the Academy grounds. As is the case now, those pupils who wish to make their own way home may continue to do so and both gates will remain supervised by our staff during this time.
We hope this is the start of something new whereby parents/carers feel much more part of the Academy day and for there to also be an opportunity to meet and know your child’s teacher on a day to day basis which I know the teachers would very much welcome. To support us in these changes, I would ask that you discuss and agree with your child/children the afternoon collection arrangements so that everyone is clear of their home time arrangements.
Finally, can I once again thank you for all your support this year and praise the efforts and achievements of your children and wish you all a very pleasant and enjoyable summer holiday.
Kinds regards
Mr Andrew Reep
