Newquay Junior Academy is thrilled to taking part in the RHS Rocket Project which is being run by the RHS linked with Tim Peake and the International Space Station. In September 2015, 2KG of rocket seeds were sent to the International Space Station and were looked after by Tim Peake for 7 months whilst in orbit. They have then been returned to Earth and distributed to 10,000 schools. Each school has received 100 seeds that have been to space and 100 seeds that remained on Earth. The pupils (Space Biologists) are now growing the seeds under experiment conditions to see if micro gravity has any impact on germination and growth rates. Our group of Space Biologists are busy carrying out measurements and collecting data and will keep the website updated with the results.
