Year 3 Letters to the Members of Parliament

Year 3 Letters to the Members of Parliament

Year 3 have been completely gripped by the plastic pollution project this term and have become passionate to make a change.
They have all written to Members of Parliament like Mr. Steve Double (our local MP), Mr. Gove (Secretary of State for the Environment) and Mrs. Teresa May (PM). These letters were forwarded on to these MPs today.
The pupils have learned that MPs represent people’s views in Parliament.
The pupils have discovered a scheme, used widely in many European countries but not ours, that returns money to the customer when they return a plastic bottle with a deposit on it. Year 3s have strongly suggested that the UK should introduce the scheme immediately to improve our recycling of plastic. Currently the UK recycles only 57% of our plastic, while Norway (with this scheme) recycle 95% of theirs!
Our pupils are very proud of their letters and they hope they get a response. Let’s hope they are successful.
