Dear Parents/Carers
Year 4 Forest Camp 2016
Thank you for the positive response concerning a possible Year 4 Camp.
Following our recent camp meeting, I would like to confirm our intention to provide a residential experience for our Year 4 pupils.
The camp will take place locally at Newquay Forest School and the dates for each class will be:-
4GF – Monday 4th July
4SN – Tuesday 5th July
4ST – Monday 11th July
4JM – Tuesday 12th July
4BM – Tuesday 19th July
The total cost of the camp will be £56.00, with an initial deposit of £16.00 to be paid by Friday 13th May and the remaining balance to be paid by Friday 24th June on ParentPay under the service ‘Yr 4 Forest Camp’. The camp will include a variety of fun and educational activities (please see attached itinerary and kit list), travel, evening meal, an overnight stay, breakfast and lunch. All food is cooked on site and locally sourced where possible. A covered seating area is provided for meals and there is also a dry area for wet weather activities if necessary. The children and staff will be sleeping in hammocks overnight, and toilet facilities are available on the Forest School site.
Each class will be going on a separate day, having the site solely to themselves. Each class will be accompanied by their Classteacher and 2 Teaching Assistants, with the activities being run by the Forest School staff. The Forest School site is extremely secure, with members of the Forest School staff on duty overnight.
If your child does not wish to take part in the Forest School Camp please ensure their classteacher is aware. Pupils not attending Forest Camp will be expected to attend Newquay Junior Academy on these days as there is an alternative programme of outdoor learning activities for them to participate in.
Year 4 staff at Newquay Junior Academy are very excited to be able to offer this new and exciting outdoor learning opportunity for our Year 4 pupils and hope that its success will enable the Year 4 Forest Camp to continue for the foreseeable future. Please note that the ongoing residential Year 5 Camp has changed dates from September 2016 to the Summer Term of 2017 not only to accommodate this new venture for Year 4, but also to hopefully allow for more forgiving weather!

I agree to pay a deposit of £16.00 on ParentPay under the service heading ‘Yr 4 Forest Camp’ by Friday 13th May followed by the remaining amount of £40.00 by Friday 24th June.
