Whilst making their presentations they also started to use spell check and changed several words using thesaurus. Year 4 discussed copyright and plagiarism and learnt how to use split screens when searching for relevant information that is suitable for KS2.
Year 4 also looked into what makes a computer network and we went on a network hunt around NJA. Safe searching was our online safety theme and they took part in a safe searching activity. In the last few weeks of the term year 4 pupils created Deadly 60 posters of their chosen deadly 60 animal creating amazing backgrounds and exploring formatting text and shape boxes.

Here are some examples of the student’s work this term:
This term Year 4 have been learning to build, add to and search a database. Whilst using their Spy Kids theme they built a database on criminal suspects. These databases were used to explore and create graph work, answer questions using ‘and, or’ They were given the opportunity to test out each other’s database questions.
Year 4 watched Kara and Winstons adventures which focus on online safety SMART rules, http://www.childnet.com/resources/the-adventures-of-kara-winston-and-the-smart-crew/watch-full-movie they have explored the think you know Cyber café https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/8_10/cybercafe/ and have played Star ridershttps://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/8_10/Star-Rider/ and been on Netsmartz kids. http://www.netsmartzkids.org/
Year 4 have also been looking at Algorithms and procedures, moving on from previous knowledge they were able to create an Algorithm on how to make a cup of tea. We then made it more difficult by having to think about a decision box we used “Do you want sugar?” and this led to the children creating their own decision algorithms.
Then onto Logo using FMS logo, the children have explored writing command to move their turtle around the screen, they have had great fun creating shapes of different sizes and colours. They have learnt commands such as Fd, Bk, Rt, Lt, cs, pu, pd, setpc, repeat and fill. They have also had to know shapes angles to help with their commands. They have explored using repeat and procedure to make some amazing spiral and snowflake shapes.
