Year 5 Camp 2017

Following a very successful Year 5 Camp at Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre last year, we would like to offer a similar experience for the present Year 5.

The camp will be a three day/two night residential from Wednesday 21^st – Friday 23^rd June 2017.  As these are normal academy days, children not participating in the residential camp will be expected to attend the Academy as usual.

The cost of the camp this year will be £135.  This will include transport, food, accommodation and two days of activities, provided by fully qualified Porthpean Staff (see proposed itinerary overleaf).  The final date for payment in full is Tuesday 2^nd May.

The residential camp will be an ‘Active Learning Experience’ and to make it successful we would like as many children to participate as possible.  We will be talking to the Year 5 children about this exciting opportunity and would also like to invite you to a meeting in the Academy Hall on Tuesday 31^st January at 5.00pm, where we will be showing photographs from last year’s camp and will be able to answer any queries you may have.

If you would like to secure a place for your child, please sign and return the attached slip and pay the £25 deposit by Friday 10^th February using ParentPay into the service marked ‘Year 5 Camp’.

Wednesday 21^st June

9.00am                       Board coach for Porthpean

10.30am                     Arrive at Porthpean camp for guided tour

11.00am                     Walk down to beach – games and activities

12.30pm                     Lunch

1.00pm                       Two activities from:  High ropes course/Archery/Mountain Biking/Climbing and Abseiling

5.00pm                       Organise tents

6.00pm                       Evening meal

7.00pm                       Problem solving activities and team sports

9.00pm                       Cocoa and bed (maybe even some sleep!)

 

Thursday 22^nd June

 

8.00am                       Breakfast

9.00am                       Wetsuit fittings

10.00am                     Water sports:  Kayaking, Canadian Canoeing, Coasteering

5.00pm                       Return to camp – shower and clean up

6.00pm                       Evening meal

7.00pm                       Circus activities

9.00pm                       Cocoa and bed

 

Friday 24^th June

 

8.00am                       Breakfast

9.00am                       Two activities from:  High ropes course/Archery/Mountain Biking/Climbing and Abseiling

12.30pm                     Lunch and final tidy of camp area

3.00pm                       Collection from Newquay Junior Academy
