Welcome from Head Boy and Head Girl, Alfie and Iyla.

We would like to welcome you to Newquay Junior Academy (NJA). We are very proud of our academy and the staff are kind and caring. Newquay Junior Academy is a vibrant, large and happy academy that is situated in the heart of the Newquay community. The academy is minutes away from the beach, Newquay Zoo, the Celtic Barrowfields, Trenance Botanical Gardens and the impressive Concrete Waves skatepark.

Learning at our academy is exciting. We have lots of opportunities to explore our local area, go on exciting academy trips and welcome interesting visitors into our academy. Sport is a very important part of our curriculum and we enjoy participating in a variety of sports during and after our academy day. We also have many opportunities to compete against other schools and academies in Newquay and Cornwall. During lunchtimes, there are a variety of activities for pupils to engage in, including clubs that are organised by teachers, football, basketball, skipping, den building, playing board games, reading and playing with a wide range of resources.

Newquay Junior Academy has twenty classrooms, a mixture of the original building, dating back to 1909 and newer developments adding on over the years, including three new state of the art classrooms built in 2018. There is a library on site which pupils can borrow books from regularly, a sports hall facility built in 2016 and our cosy corner which supports the emotional and social development of our pupils here. The outdoor space at Newquay Junior Academy comprises of a large sports field, an award winning wildlife garden, our recently installed activity equipment and outdoor learning area (July 2022), quiet areas with bench seating, two large playgrounds and a multi-purpose sports pitch. We celebrate the many fantastic things happening each week during our celebration assembly which is led by us as Head boy and Head girl and includes yellow certificates, postcards and medals. Our school motto is, ‘Pup Huny Rag Les An Myns’ which means, ‘Each for the good of the greater number’. We believe that our historic academy motto echoes our belief that by working hard together, we can all reach our true potential.
